ISLAMABAD: According to Express Tribune, PMNL-N is about to present Premarital Blood Screening Bill. This is to avoid the spread of communicable diseases.
This bill will be presented by Senator Chaudhry Tanvir Khan. This will be an effort to prevent diseases like HIV/AIDS, thalassemia and hepatitis from spreading in the community.
According to Fatimid Foundation, an NGO, over 8000 babies are born with Thalassemia. Chaudhry Tanvir told The Express Tribune:
“I will move the bill on July 26. The basic objective of the bill is to prevent the spread of communicable diseases which are transmitted through genetic abnormalities and blood transmission.”
In my opinion, it’s a good step by government. It can save many lives as well as increase awareness about their health.
